Commissioner Richard Faust Remembered for His Commitment and Service
LBGTQ Commissioner Richard Bradley Faust passed away at age 53 after a hard fought battle with cancer on October 14, 2015. He is remembered by fellow commissioners for his strength of character, integrity, perseverance, compassion, and dedication to social justice.
Richard’s history of public service included a 23 year-long career as a firefighter/paramedic for the San Francisco Fire Department, service on the Pacifica School District Board of Trustees, extensive involvement as a Pacifica School Volunteer and as PTO President, and his as a member of the San Mateo County LGBTQ Commission. He was appointed as a founding member of the LGBTQ Commission by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors on September 9, 2014 and was elected Vice Chair of the Commission on January 8th, 2015.
In honor of Richard’s life, enduring contributions to the community, and generous spirit, the LGBTQ Commission adjourned its November 3rd, 2015 with shared remembrances. The Commission will begin a tradition of sharing appreciations for fellow commissioners at each meeting in dedication to his memory.
